Speaking and Training

I’ve had the opportunity to help changemakers reach their audiences through dozens of speaking and training sessions throughout my career.

I speak on a variety of topics including social media, audience engagement, and strategic communications. Sessions are filled with practical tips that are tailored to each audience. As a trained improviser and comedian, an average of 60% of my jokes are well-received.

Whether you’re a large non-profit or a communications practitioner, I’d love to see how we can work together.

Is Anyone Listening?

Audience engagement in a distracted world

We live in a world of multiple tabs and devices. Are you getting lost in the noise? In this engaging and energetic presentation, Ryan will share his insights on how to bridge the attention divide. As you create digital content, he will share the 3 things you need to be doing to make sure it lands in your audience’s feed (and stays there).

5 Big Social Media Plays

(To steal from the private sector)

This is a time of information overload. Despite working in the for-good sector, we are fighting against for-profit players for the same audience’s attention. And changemakers are outmatched. As organic reach drops, we are losing our share of the audience against bigger players who are spending their way to victory. In this talk, Ryan will share the 5 techniques that nonprofit communicators need to be making part of their playbook.

Run Your Team Like An Agency

Leading high-impact creative teams

Lots of organizations work with agencies for their innovation and creativity. But what if you could bring some of that magic to your own communications team? In this talk, Ryan will share lessons from the agency world and provide practical advice about how to create a more engaged office culture. Ryan will share the key questions they ask the digital agency’s “impact/failure” meetings, and why creating a culture that embraces shortcomings is needed to build trust.
